Edgefest 2004 - Featuring Velvet Revolver

Tulsa's yearly concert festival Edgefest 2004 proved to exceed expectations with national headliner Velvet Revolver. The show kicked off with local artists Upside on the main stage who have been steadily gaining popularity in their tour with The Feds. Next to take the stage was The Music who have a very Jane's Addiction feel to their music. The Burden Brothers also put on a spectacular show which got the crowd surfing started in a big way performing their hits Shadow and Beautiful Night. 12 Stones, Blue October and Shinedown all put on heavy hitting shows. One highlight of the evening was Rick Horton of Cancer Sucks who presented a check for $8,000 to fund cancer research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Capping off the night was of course Velvet Revolver who put on a spectacular show giving the crowd everything they had hoped for. Just being near the living legend Slash was an awe inspiring experience. In what seems to be par for the course on outdoor festivals these days there were a few in the crowd who decided that it would be fun to throw things on stage which prompted Slash to threaten some butt kicking. After seeing the arms on this guy I don't see how anyone would welcome that! Scott then proceeded to say "We have 5000 people here to enjoy the show and 5 a******s, now I wouldn't want to be one of the 5 a******s". Velvet Revolver then proceeded to go into their ballad Fall to Pieces and even performed some Gun's n' Roses tunes much to the delight of the crowd.

On to the local stage; the performers consisted of Radio League Champions, Vastu, Glenn Strain, Ultrafix, The Effects, 6ft Landing, Hotrod Bob, Day by Day, Clovis, The Engine Hearts and TRB. All of the performers put on a great performance proving that Tulsa is still in the scene. Day by Day did a great set with former Shamrocker Aaron Baker on drums. The Tony Romanello Band (TRB) put on an awesome show that was unfortunately cut short due to time constraints. They do however have their upcoming CD release coming up on November 13th at Venue 216. If you missed this years Edgefest, you definitely missed one of the best.

Photographed bands include: Upside, Burden Brothers, Ultrafix, Day by Day, TRB and Velvet Revolver.
