Every once in a while a band comes along that defies the status quo and shows a talent rarely seen in the industry. One such band is Jibe. Here now is an interview with a legend in the making, Joe Grah.
EMMETT: Rumor has it that Jibe has been scouted by several major labels. Any comment?
(JOE) We have made so many new friends, especially over the last year. Our Los Angeles (Viper Room), New York (C.B.G.B.'s) and Dallas showcases, along with our tour with Nickelback & Jerry Cantrell, helped to break the band on a national level.
EMMETT: How would you describe your music?
(JOE) Our music is a direct reflection of the dynamics we face in life.
(JOE) Continually being on the move has helped us to develop tenacity and sticktuitiveness.
EMMETT: How many shows has Jibe played to date?
(JOE) I'm not sure of the exact number of dates we've played? it's well over 1,000.
EMMETT: You have an incredible Dallas fan-base. To what do you attribute your success?
(JOE) Tenacity, sticktuitiveness and the best crowd a band could possibly hope for.
EMMETT: You've been in the studio working on a new full length album. What can you tell us about it?
(JOE) We're really proud of the new music, the songs represent the last year and a half of our lives.
EMMETT: Of the songs you've recorded so far, which are your favorites?
(JOE) I'm really feeling "Broken," "Crush" and "Kill Me Again," however, it changes periodically with my moods.
EMMETT: Which bands/musicians have influenced you the most?
(JOE) Any band or artistic vent that has had a significant impact on the world we know. too many to list.
EMMETT: What sets Jibe apart from other bands?
(JOE) Desire, commitment, communication & total dysfunction.
EMMETT: What direction do you see Jibe going in the future?
(JOE) Forward and outward we intend to stick together and evolve together.
EMMETT: Over the years, what do you feel has been your biggest achievement?
(JOE) Keeping this band together through so many ups and downs. Making too many mistakes to count and somehow pulling it all back together.
